To that effect, scientists are trying to develop a sound muffling headphone that would to a great extent cancel out the sound of the drill to alleviate the problems associated with it.

Still in the testing phases, all the patient needs is a pair of headphones that is plugged into the dental equipment that has the signature of the drill’s sound producing white noise to cancel it out. You can also get your favorite tunes piped in just in case the silence tends to be deafening to your ears.

To that effect, you’d be surprised to find it in your child’s sealant for the material is part of the plastic being used as sealants that is most commonly used for kids who are just getting their permanent teeth.

Studies regarding the effects of the chemical are still being analyzed for any risks to your child’s health so do check up on the matter from time to time. You may have to get the sealant off your kids teeth to get them re-sealed with another material just to be safe.

If you are worried that your child may be developing malocclusion, you should arrange for a visit with an orthodontic specialist.
The orthodontist will make an evaluation of your child to determine if he has a malocclusion. Among the evaluative procedures that will be done to your child include an evaluation of the child’s oral , facial and functional features. Photos of the face and the intraoral area will be taken to assess the situation more closely, x-rays from a panoramic and cephalometric perspectives and an impression of the teeth and the child’s bite.
These are just some of the methods that will help the orthodontic specialist make a specific plan of action for the child if he needs correction.

Not much has gone on in the sedation side for it may be that they are indeed working to the best interest of both parties, the dentist and the patient.

But people with dental phobias are always seeking for new ways of getting around the pain and the phobias that come with it mainly due to the pain they do feel even in a simple a task as sitting in the chair. There needs to be some new medical breakthrough to help more and more people who have dental phobias but all we can do is wait, Ouch!!!

The orthodontic facemask and reverse-pull headgear is a functional appliance that is used to moderate the growth of the manidibular and maxillary bones when orthodontic treatment is ongoing.

The device is usually used by growing patients in order to correct their under bites. The correction is made through assisting upper jaw growth by pulling it forward. The gadget needs to be worn from 12 to 22 hours in order for it to be effective in a span of six to eight months.

The appliance is composed of center bars or a frame strapped to the head of the patient during fitting. One part of the frame is positioned in front of the patient’s mouth so that elastic bands can be attached directly to the patient’s braces.

A Quad Helix
Is an orthodontic appliance designed for the upper teeth. It is cemented in the patient’s mouth. It got its name “Quad Helix” because of the four active helix springs that causes the arch of the mouth to widen. It is commonly used as a solution for crowded teeth and/ or posterior cross-bites. Although it is fixed, adjustments can be performed throughout your treatment
Special fixed appliances

These are used to control thumb sucking or tongue thrusting, these appliances are attached to the teeth by bands. Wearing this would cause discomfort especially during meals, that is why they should be used only as a last resort.
