Damon braces: the better braces for teens

Damon braces utilize some of the newest technologies in braces. Many people are shifting towards using the Damon system for teen braces because of their many benefits. It is generally faster, more comfortable and can straighten your teeth with fewer extractions and fewer complicated pre-treatment procedures.

Conventional teen braces usually have rubber o-shaped rings for attaching the wire to the brace. Because of the material, they tend to put unnatural and rather uncomfortable pressure on the teeth to shift them into the right position. This tightening can be painful. Damon braces, on the other hand, have a gate that allows the wire to move freely and it creates less friction and is, therefore, less painful.

Another advantage of getting Damon teen braces is that it is more hygienic. The o-ring retains plaque because of its organic nature. Micro-organisms, bacteria and plaque increase the chances of tooth decay. Damon braces don’t use o-rings, and the wires are mostly mobile. The chances for decalcification and tooth decay is greatly reduced during the course of the treatment.

New Smile Treatment

At this time, orthodontists are required to use bended wires physically to make adjustments in teeth, which can lead to very small quantity of under-correction or over-correction and longer treatment time. Regular medication time for braces is between twenty up to twenty-four months.

A new system called SureSmile makes use of computers and robotic treatment of the archwire to boost accuracy in orthodontic development and rapid treatment times.

“With the ability of the new technology to understand all the forces going on in the mouth, we are able to treat the total mouth, and so it reduces the amount of wires the patient needs,” said orthodontist Adam Weiss.

The orthodontist plans medication in a virtual atmosphere, using the 3-D scanning system.
